Situation
As of March 2015, 500 tonnes of fish were wiped out due to algae blooming and this has affected the fish farmers. The reason for this is due to the fact that fish farmers harvest fishes to sell as a way to earn their livelihood. Hence, without any harvest, fish farmers have nothing to sell and on top of that they have to spend time and money to farm more fishes as well as clear up the algae.
Another victim of this would be fishmongers in the wet market as they are not able to get stock from their supplier (fish farmers).
Lastly, not only are we affected by it in the long run, other creatures of the sea are affected as well. This is due to the food chain being disrupted. The food chain symbolises the balance between all the species as it ensures that there will not be any overpopulation. However, if this issue remains unchanged, it is possible for us to face a fish shortage in the distant future.
Hence, there is a need for a product such as AQON. Although there are many similar products in the market. The difference between AQON and its competitors are that it is self-sustainable due to its solar panel as well as its mean of maintaning its probe. It is also affordable at a average price of $5000 and most importantly, it can update fish farmers immediately on potential algae bloom as well as its location.
