AQON's design is inspired by Manta Rays. In particular, how the Manta Rays looked like when they are either floating in a spot or out in the air.

 

The reason for designing it that way is to allow the drone to be able to blend in with its surroundings so that people would not be threatened by a foreign looking object in the sea.

 

However, it also has to stand out so that people travelling by boat can avoid colliding with it. Hence, a beacon was placed and the colour of the shell was painted orange.
